Meet Dr. Murphy

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my page. Where better to start than the beginning?

I was born in Great Bend, Kansas May 8, 1944. My father was a farmer and

rancher. I lived on a farm until I was eight years old. I helped my dad farm until I went away to college (even then I helped during the summer months). I attended Sanford country grade school from the first grade through the third grade. We moved to a house in the town of Larned, Kansas and commuted to our far farm each day.

I attended Larned Junior High School 1957-59. I continued on to attend Larned High School in 1960 and graduated in 1962. I attended one semester at Pittsburg, Kansas State Teacher’s College the fall of 1962 then transferred to the University of Kansas at Lawrence, Kansas in January 1963. I proudly graduated there with a B.A. in Psychology June of 1966.

I was accepted to The University Of Kansas City, Missouri Dental School in the fall of 1966 and received my DDS in June of 1970. I signed up in the U.S.A. Army for two years and was assigned to Madigan Military Hospital which serves Fort Lewis Army Base and McCord Air Force Basnear Tacoma, Wa. I was scheduled to serve my second year of service in Viet Nam but was asked to participate in a research program at Madigan Hospital which required me to stay at Fort Lewis. I separated from active duty in the Army approximately January of 1973.

Colonel West the commander of the Dental Corp at Madigan offered to raise my rank to Major and enroll me in on of the Army’s Specialty Programs. I foolishly turned it down.......

I associated with Dr. Edward Klopping in Lakewood, Wa. an unincorporated city adjoining Tacoma, Wa. I was with Dr. Klopping for seven years. I learned much from my time practicing with Dr. Klopping.

At the last of 1979, I started a private practice in Federal Way, WA. I am still practicing at the same location to this day!

That's just a little bio of my life so that you have an idea of where I came from and my education. I would love to meet you in person. My staff believe as much as myself in the importance of compassion towards our patients and we all are deeply committed to your dental care and well being.
